For Exotic Pet Owners
What to expect:
Surgery drop offs are scheduled from 7:30-9 AM the day of surgery, or scheduled as an appointment a day prior. Surgery patients are evaluated soon after arrival, and are set up in a comfortable enclosure.
Traveling With Companions
Many exotic pets have bonded companions. If your pet is not unusually large, we often are able to make accommodations for the bonded companion to stay with the pet when it’s safe to do so, for no additional charge.
Communication
As soon as the doctor has completed the physical examination, we will call you to discuss the findings and formulate a plan, including anticipated time of the procedure(s). If you are able to receive texts, we can send you more frequent updates that way.
Going Home
In some cases it’s not possible to estimate when your pet will be well enough to go home, especially if your pet has had surgery. Some pets are not well enough to return home by the end of the day, and will be safer in the hospital for the night.
Documents and Payment
To speed hospital admission, please be sure all your client/patient paperwork is filled out before arrival. Once paperwork is completed, we will send a final estimate for the anticipated procedures or surgeries for your signature. A deposit is required for all patients at the time of admission. A sedation consent form might also be required.
